Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rajghat – the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi – and paid tribute to the father of the nation on his birth anniversary on Thursday morning.
Modi also launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. An initiative of “clean India†was declared in his Independence Day speech which he called as the best tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
During the launch of Clean India campaign, Modi said Gandhi had given the message of quit India, clean India and that Bapu’s dream of a clean India was still to be fulfilled.
Speaking about the Swachh Bharat campaign logo, he said it is as if ‘Gandhiji is watching us, asking as when we will clean India’.
He also took a shot at his critiques, saying his government was not trying to take credit for the Clean India campaign, but people will pass their judgement, ‘But I have come prepared to face that’ he added.
