New Delhi: One man was killed and four others injured after the basement of an under construction building collapsed, in south Delhi’s Kidwai Nagar area, Thursday morning. Police said the men were labourers working at the site under a contract from the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC).Â
The incident was reported around 10 am when the workers were digging into the basement of the site. Locals said loose soil stored beside the site suddenly collapsed onto them.Â
The five men were immediately buried under the mud. Hearing their calls for help the other labourers rushed to the spot and managed to pull out two of them. The rest were rescued by the fire and police personnel. The contractor of NBCC also rushed to the collapsed site.
The deceased person, a labourer was identified as Subodh Mandal (22) a resident of Purnea in Bihar. Police said the rest of the injured were rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre.Â
