Unfazed by EC Kejriwal repeats bribery remark

Date:

New Delhi: Unfazed by notice slapped on him by the Election Commission (EC) over his bribery remarks, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Friday suggested voters accept money, if offered by BJP and Congress.

The AAP chief made the remarks in two successive rallies at Chhatarpur and Deoli Assembly constituencies on Friday.

“Now days have come closer when people from Congress and BJP would approach you to give money. Don’t refuse. Take it. They would also give you rice or blankets. Take them, but give your vote to AAP,” he said.

A fresh show cause notice was slapped on Kejriwal asking him to respond by January 27 “failing which the Election Commission of India shall take a decision without any further reference to you”.

In his speech, the AAP supremo, however, added “don’t take liquor, as it is dangerous. It destroys families.”

Kejriwal also raised the issue of poor living conditions of labourers during his first rally of the day in Bhati Mines area of Chhatarpur.

“All the colonies and jhuggis of this area have been neglected for long and many of the labourers fear that they may lose their land due to BJP government’s decision taken in 1996. But I assure you all that no one would be displaced from here.”

He promised not to demolish a single slum hutment if voted to power and said AAP has plans to build pucca houses for people living in JJ colonies.

“There are almost 5 lakh jhuggis in Delhi and AAP has plan to give them pucca houses. I ensure you that when our government comes to power in Delhi, no DDA official would dare to touch your jhuggis,” Kejriwal said.
