7 coolest gadgets of 2015

Date:

New Delhi: Technology forecasters are calling 2015 the year for the Gizmos and the huge technical expo in Las Vegas CES 2015 was the centre for huge displays and countless innovative innovations to boast about.

As the expo closed its door this year, it left behind some of the coolest and unique gadgets which will make your life more sophisticated.

HP Stream Mini PC

HP launched the low-cost Windows alternative to Chromebox – the HP Stream Mini PC – at $180 (approximately Rs 11,500), complete with a bundled keyboard and mouse.

Alongside, the company has also introduced the Pavilion Mini PCs starting at $319.99 (approximately Rs 20,000) with the Intel Pentium CPU, and $449.99 (approximately Rs 28,000) for the Intel Core i3 model.

Both – HP Stream Mini and HP Pavilion Mini – come with Windows 8.1 and will be available via the company’s online store in the US from January 14, and through some retailers beginning February 8.

Lenovo Vibe Band

Lenovo announced its first wearable, the Vibe Band VB10, at CES this year. Priced at $89 (approximately Rs 5,500), the Lenovo Vibe Band VB10 will be available beginning April.

The Lenovo Vibe Band VB10 features a curved 1.43-inch E-ink display with resolution of 296×128 pixels. The smartband is compatible with any device running Android 4.4 and higher, and even with iOS devices. Apart from being a fitness tracker (with accelerometer to help track steps, calories, distance, sleep) the Vibe Band VB10 can also display instant notifications – for calls, SMS, Facebook, Twitter and more – with the display space for up to 150 characters.

Oku Skin Health Sensor

Anti aging serums, creams, cleansers and others may improve your facial texture. But can you assess the exact amounts of moisturizer or any facial product needing precise amounts?

Oku is coming up with a product this spring ‘The Oku Skin Health Sensor’, which would gauge the exact amounts your skin needs to hype your look with just a simple swipe by it. The optical sensors peer in to the epidermis and give out details of nourishments lacking and an app to improve it and also tweaks your diet chart.

Zolt Charger

Trying to charge a laptop using a power bank is impractical, as it won’t be able to handle the power requirements of your laptop. But with Zolt, it’s a handy dandy laptop charger that’s just the right size so you won’t have to deal with an uber-bulky laptop bag when you’re on-the-go or when you’re travelling.

Zolt is dubbed as the smallest and lightest laptop charger ever. It’s capable of having an output of 70 watts of power despite its small size, and the handsome brushed enclosure makes it a pleasure to look at and is available for $80.

Quitbit

Quitbit is a lighter that tracks all your smoking. It has a built in display and can wirelessly connect to the Quitbit app on your phone to provide feedback so you can make healthier decisions.

View your trends via the spider graph to see when you’re smoking most, or learn how your smoking is affecting other aspects of your health like your weight or activity. Set targets and goals that you can actually achieve. It’s completely customizable.

Acer CB5-571

Acer introduced the industry’s first Chromebook with a 15.6-inch display. Additionally, the company announced that it will expand its Chromebook 13 range of laptops with new touchscreen models.

The Acer Chromebook 15 range (CB5-571) will be available in variants offering either a 16GB or 32GB SSD drive and either 2GB or 4GB or RAM. The company notes the “exact specifications, prices and availability will vary by region”.

The new Acer Chromebook 15 will be available in two display versions – one offering a full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) screen resolution and another offering a HD (1366×768 pixels) resolution.

Asus ZenFone 2

Asus launched the Asus ZenFone 2, the successor of its popular ZenFone series, at CES 2015 alongside the ZenFone Zoom. Announced at a starting price of $199 (Rs 12,600 approximately), the ZenFone 2 will be available in Q2 2015 (March), while the Asus ZenFone Zoom has been priced at $399 (Rs 25,300 approximately) before taxes and will also be available in Q2.
