New Delhi: Bhartiya Janata Party Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj landed his party in the midst of another controversy by appealing to all Hindu women to sire atleast four children to protect his religion.
“The concept of four wives and 40 children will not work in India and the time has come when a Hindu woman must produce at least four children in order to protect Hindu religion,” he said.
Sakshi made this statement to emphasise the necessity  for Hindus to increase their progeny to protect the religion. He made the comments while addressing a gathering on the occasion of Sant Samagam Mahotsava in Meerut Tuesday.
He was earlier at the centre of a controversy when he described Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse as a “patriot”. He had said, “Godse was an aggrieved person. He may have done something by mistake but was no an anti-national. He was a patriot.”
He later on apologised for his comments.
