Karachi: Pakistan’s Interior Ministry said Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi might incite violence and propagate terrorist activities in the aftermath of the Peshawar massacre. The ministry said he will destroy peace and tranquility while reproducing the detention order of the alleged Mumbai attack mastermind on Friday.
Lakhvi was initially granted bail by an anti-terror court in December 2014. Later, the government detained him under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
Lakhvi’s detention was then challenged and later overturned by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The federal government had earlier expressed apprehension before the top court regarding the likelihood that the accused, along with other miscreants, will cause damage to government’s key installations and public important places.
The government said it would be a breach of peace within the federal government and a possibility of any untoward incident cannot be ruled out as he is affiliated with the proscribed organisation.
