God is usually a silent spectator, but when God speaks, the world stops and listens. The God of cricket spoke and what he revealed will become a part of the cricketing Bible for the times to come. In his autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’, God has come down bellowing on the former Indian coach, the controversial Greg Chappell.
At a time when the Indian media was going bonkers of the dirty linen that both Chappell and the then-skipper Sourav Ganguly were washing in public, Sachin didn’t really contribute to the mess. But then, he spoke up and did so in a way, validating the voices many of the Indian team members had raised at that point in time.
Sachin Tendulkar had his own share of unpleasant moments with Chappell, as there was a huge disagreement in terms of his batting position, which the Australian later regretted. In his autobiography, Sachin has termed the former coach as a ‘ringmaster’, who would only impose, but would never care to listen.
All through that phase, Sachin supported the Indian team members, but never let out any details regarding what happened in the dressing room. But in his book, Sachin has preferred to be candid and exposed why all the murmurs of unhappiness were doing the rounds in the Indian dressing room.
It would indeed be interesting to see how Chappell, who, in his autobiography called Fierce Focus, had lashed out any many of the Indian players, would react this these strong statements in black and white, penned down by none other than the God of cricket himself.
