Tenders to make Hyderabad Wi-Fi enabled to be floated soon

Date:

Hyderabad: Seeking to position Hyderabad as the top destination for IT companies in India, Telangana government on Tuesday said it plans to call tenders by this month- end for making the capital city Wi-Fi enabled.

IT Minister K T Rama Rao said private companies are rolling out their own quality services and Wi-Fi initiatives and the government will do its own bit to make Hyderabad log onto the popular wireless technology that uses radio waves to provide wireless high-speed Internet and network connections.

He also said software giants like TCS, who already have offices in Hyderabad, are in expansion mode.

“We are firstly trying to create a level playing field. Secondly, we are also trying to call for RFP (request for proposal) before the end of this month to ensure that all network and service providers, who are willing to participate in this initiative, will work with us,” he said.

“Companies already settled here are expanding in a big way. TCS would be launching a facility at Adibatla, providing employment to 25,000 people. HSBC is also expanding.

“Amazon was allotted land earlier but their work stopped due to some small problems. They will also be expanding soon.

Google has decided to set up their permanent campus in Hyderabad,” said the son of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
