RS Pura (Jammu): Brakes to unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan seems unlikely. And the numbers have gone up drastically since the new government has taken over. Indian troops on late Thursday night retaliated after another ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops which came after a two-day silence. Pakistani rangers resorted to motiveless firing, targeting two Border Security Force (BSF) posts in R S Pura sector of Jammu & Kashmir.Â
Mortar shells were used in the firing that started from the Pakistani side around midnight. Some of the mortars landed in villages causing some damage. “SF has retaliated…effectively,” a senior police officer said.
Â
It is the 14th ceasefire violation by the Pakistan troops in nearly two weeks.
Two days ago, Pakistani troops fired at Indian posts near the border in Jammu and Kashmir, in the first ceasefire violation since New Delhi called off talks between the two countries on Monday. A spurt in attacks that violate the 2003 ceasefire along the Line of Control, the de facto border between the two countries, also cast a shadow on the talks.
