Kolkata: Painting your house into Mamata Banerjee’s favouriate colour – White and Sky Blue – can earn you waiver on property tax for a year. The mayor-in-council of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation passed this proposal on Monday.
“We will allow full waiver of property tax for 2014-15 if anybody wishes to paint his/her house or apartment building in white and sky blue, the theme colour for Kolkata,†Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said. The proposal will now be placed before the state Cabinet and if Okayed, will be sent to the Governor for his approval, he added.
After the Trinamool came into power in 2011, red Kolkata have had a brush with the CM’s favourite hue. Even public buses and taxis sported the colour.
