Court Suzanne Lenglen was staging Svetlana Kuznetsova against Simona Halep and then eight-time champion Rafael Nadal’s clash against David Ferrer.
The tournament lost a whole day’s play in 2000 when no action was possible at all on the first Tuesday of the fortnight.
