Jaya’s Delhi visit opens avenues of possibility

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa met Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday and discussed allocation of additional power to the state, which is facing an energy shortage, and also the fishermen’s issue who are facing trouble from Sri Lankan authorities.

Great significance is attached to J Jayalalithaa’s meeting with Modi since BJP would need AIADMK support for smooth-sailing of its Bills to be passed in the Rajya Sabha, where the ruling party is in a minority.

As BJP with 42 members in the 245-Upper House falls short of the 123-mark, speculations are rife that the Modi-led party might warm up to AIADMK which has 10 members in the House.
