New Delhi: The Indian Navy’s repeated warnings since 2010 has fallen on the deaf ears of the government. The poor state of its submarine division, both operationally and in terms of numbers, leaves India vulnerable to attacks by sea.
Newsmobile investigation team has learnt that the Navy has, in a confidential report to the PMO and the Defence Ministry, expressed its alarming concern that by 2015 AD, India would be at its lowest submarine capability ever. India’s current submarine strength, according to senior Naval officials, is precarious. It has only seven conventional subs whereas it needs a full fleet of at least 15 subs.
Admiral D K Joshi set exemplary moral standards, and the message should not be lost in the political gamesmanship.
