Chennai: Narendra Modi is becoming secular by each passing day, judging from the support he is receiving from politicians known for their secular credential. If it was Ram Villas Paswan yesterday, it is M Karunanidhi today. The grand old DMK patriarch told a Tamil newspaper Dinamalar, “Modi’s continuous campaign reveals he is a hard worker. Modi is my good friend too.”
Karunanidhi’s arch rival and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, too, has in the past described Modi as a “good friend.”
When reminded that he had said at a conference in Trichy recently that he would not ally with “communal forces,” he shot back, “Did that appear to be a reference to the BJP? Are you making a confessional statement that it’s a communal party?”
