Impossible is nothing for Superman Srini!

Date:

Justice Mukul Mudgal has delivered his verdict in the Mudgal Report and this clearly spells doom for the quintessentially N Srinivasan-owned Chennai Super Kings. Gurunath Meiyappan, the so-called cricket enthusiast is in trouble, but dad-in-law seems to have walked off, whistling away. Not a tad bit surprising, isn’t it?

Although a conflict of interest has been clearly stated in the report, yet, there is no way law could either take it’s own course, or even manage to lay a finger on him. The most powerful man of Indian cricket is all set to wear another crown and getting promoted as the most powerful man in the international cricketing circuit. Yes, N Srinivasan has been appointed as the ICC Chairman, and come July, India will unarguably have a high hand in the business of international cricket.

The whole theory of having the Big Three take charge of the ICC wasn’t a rumour afterall. India, England and Australia have now permanent seats in the five-member committee. However, even though England and Australia are supposedly a part of this Big Three, India’s moolah has the magical powers to make any Test playing nation dance to its tunes, and dance they will!

N Srinivasan’s moment of crowning glory of becoming the first ever ICC Chairman could very well have its ripple effects. While cricket has become a commercial commodity in India, the rest of the world could also follow suit. Tinkering with set schedules and changing them in the last moment to benefit any other nation that’s in the good books of Srini Sahib doesn’t look too absurd now. Contributing to almost 80% of ICC’s total revenues dcid give India a upper hand already, but Srini’s appointment just sealed the deal. India could very well take solo decisions of doing away with technologies that it doesn’t understand and one could kick-start that list with the axe hanging over the Decision Review System’s head.

There would probably be more of T20s to rake in the moolah, Test matches dying a painful death in the process. Even ODIs would slowly start fading out and we would probably get to see an international version of the IPL coming up soon. And corruption, well, let’s not even get there. The vice has already infected the system. That might explain this bizarre appointment. Yes, Srini is Superman, for whom, impossible is nothing!
