Bhopal: In a chilling incident, five members of a family were discovered hanging at their residence in Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur district. The grim scene, where a couple and their three children were found hanging from the ceiling on Monday, has deeply unsettled the local community.
According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Rakesh Singh, a farmer, his wife Lalita, their daughter Lakshmi, and sons Prakash and Akshay.
The bodies of the family were discovered when relatives arrived at Rakesh’s house and promptly alerted the locals and authorities. Police then arrived at the scene to recover the bodies.
BJP Mandal President Jaipal Singh has voiced strong suspicions about the nature of the deaths, asserting that the family was unlikely to have committed suicide and suggesting that it is a case of murder.
A special team, led by SDOP Alirajpur, has been formed to thoroughly investigate and determine whether the deaths were due to suicide or foul play.
The tragic case comes after similar incidents, such as the mass suicide of nine family members in Mhaisal village, Maharashtra, in June 2022, which occurred nearly four years after the infamous Burari case in Delhi, where 11 family members were found dead.
Further details are awaited.
