On June 9, 2024, terrorists attacked a bus carrying around 50 pilgrims travelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. The bus plunged into a gorge as the driver lost control after the attack, leading to deaths of 10 people so far, including children, and leaving 33 others injured. A search operation is currently going on in response to this tragic incident.
Amidst this, a social media user has posted an image claiming that 10 Indian soldiers were killed in the Reasi attack.
The image is being shared with a caption: “Horrific attack on a bus carrying Indian troops in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The news of the death of 10 Indian soldiers has been confirmed.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be false.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search on the viral image, the NM team identified the same image uploaded in a report by BBC, dated July 2, 2014. As per the BBC report, the image is from an incident in Kabul, Afghanistan, where a suicide bomber targeted an Air Force bus, resulting in the deaths of at least eight military officers and injuring 13 people, including civilians.
Additionally, we found the viral image in a video report by euronews — a European TV news network, headquartered in Lyon, France — on its YouTube channel in July 2014.
Hence, it is evident that the viral post, claiming that Army soldiers killed by militants in Reasi district of Jammu, is fabricated.
