New Delhi: The Delhi Police have announced elaborate security measures for the vote-counting day of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, scheduled for June 4. A total of 70 companies of security forces will be deployed across all seven counting centers in the national capital to ensure a smooth and secure counting process.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central, Devesh Kumar Mahla, stated that the strong room cum counting centers have been prepared according to the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India. “Keeping the guidelines in mind, the police force is deployed. Adequate CAPF personnel are also deployed. Restrictions on the Model Code of Conduct are still in place,” Mahla said.
In preparation for the vote-counting day, the Delhi Traffic Police earlier issued a new advisory outlining traffic restrictions and diversions.
According to the advisory, traffic movement will be restricted from 5:00 am onwards on the road stretch from Gagan Cinema T-Point to Nand Nagri Flyover on Wazirabad Road (Mangal Pandey Road). The Wazirabad Road (Mangal Pandey Road) will be closed to general traffic, with diversions in place from Gagan Cinema T-Point.
The public and commuters are advised to avoid these areas starting from 5:00 am on Tuesday. The advisory lists key roads where traffic restrictions will be implemented to ensure the counting process is conducted smoothly without any hindrance to vehicular movement.
