A picture is being widely shared on social media showing Prime Minister Modi bowing down in front of a woman. The post claims that the woman is business tycoon Gautam Adani’s wife.
The post reads: “बिका हुआ PM पीएम जो राष्ट्रपति के सम्मान में उठा भी नहीं परंतु उद्योगपति अडानी की पत्नी के आगे नत मस्तक हो गया भाईओ यह महिला उद्योगपति अडानी की पत्नी है जो इंसान झुका हुआ (बिका हुआ) है वो हमारे देश का PM है देश का भविष्य एक गुलाम के हाथों में है.”
(English translation: PM who did not even get up in respect of the President has bowed down before the wife of industrialist Adani. Brothers, this woman is the wife of industrialist Adani. The person who is bowed down (sold) is the PM of our country. The future of the country is one. In the hands of a slave.)

NewsMobile fact-checked the picture, and found it to be fake.
Searching with keywords, the NM team came to know that the viral picture is from 2014 when PM Modi landed in Tumkur to inaugurate a mega Food Park at the Vasanthanarsapura. In this image, PM Modi can be seen greeting Geetha Rudresh, former Mayor of Tumkur, Karnataka.

Also, an article by Vijay Karnataka, dated September 25, 2014, features the same picture. As per its report, this picture was taken when Geetha Rudresh received PM Modi upon his arrival at the airport. The news portal, OneIndia Kannada‘s article also confirms that PM Modi was greeted by Geetha Rudresh.
Thus, the above information proves that the woman in the picture is not Gautam Adani’s wife; and hence, the claim is fake.
