An image showing Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, dressed up like Princess Diana is widely shared on social media linking it to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral that will take place on September 19.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Doing a simple Reverse Image Search, we were able to view the stock images website Alamy, with a caption: “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, attended the annual Remembrance Sunday Memorial at the Cenotaph in London on November 10, 2019.”

Reuters carried the same image in 2019 with a caption: “Britain’s Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, attends a National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Westminster, London, Britain, November 10, 2019.”

Princess Diana’s photograph also can be seen on the editorial website of Shutterstock. It was taken in November 1991. She is shown participating in the national observance on a memorial day.

Thus, it is clear that an old image of Duchess Meghan is being falsely linked to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
