Fact Check: Image Of Foreigner Promoting ‘The Kashmir Files’ Is Fake

‘The Kashmir Files’ premiered on the silver screen on March 11, 2022. The movie starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty depicts the violence and torture Kashmiri pandits faced in the 1990s.

After the release, a picture of a young man with a placard in his hands is going viral on social media with hashtags like ‘#TheKashmirFiles’ and ‘#Justice_For_KashmiriHindus’. The message on the placard reads, “Kashmir files is not a movie. It’s a wake-up call for Hindus.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral image and found it to be edited.

On performing a Reverse Image Search, we found the original image posted on Instagram by a verified user named “dudewithsign” on November 25, 2019.

In the image, the colour of Seth’s sweater has also been changed to red. The original message reads, “stop using group pics for your dating profile.”

Hence, with the above information, it can be concluded that the viral image is edited.
