In the middle of this devastating second wave of coronavirus, a video of a large crowd is doing rounds on social media. The video is being shared with a claim that it is of an Iftar party in Hyderabad.
“कुम्भ पर ज्ञान बाटने वालों का जी भर गया हो तो ये हैदराबाद की ‘#इफ्तारी’ भी देख लेना,” the post read.
(Translation: If the people who share information on Kumbh are now satisfied, then please also at this video of ‘Iftari’ in Hyderabad.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be misleading and false.
We extracted keyframes from the video and ran them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to a Facebook video by a page called – Uttar Pradesh News.
We noticed that the video was taken at the same location as the viral video.
According to the caption, the video is from Anjuman Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
The report also mentioned that the video was shot when people flouted COVID-19 rules and gathered for the funeral procession of Maulana Abdul Momin on April 16, 2021.
The same video was uploaded on YouTube by multiple users. The link can be seen here and here.
The same video was also uploaded by the YouTube channel of UP Tak.
We also checked the location on Google maps and compared the pictures available online to the screengrab from the video and found out that they are of the same location.
This proves that the above video is of the Funeral Procession and NOT an Iftar Party.
Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadan. It is the evening meal with which the members of the community end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset.
Hence, it is clear that the video is NOT of an Iftar party in Hyderabad and the claim is misleading.
