UPSC announces revised exam schedule; Civil Services Prelims exam on Oct 4

The Union Public Service Commission on Friday announced its revised exam schedule. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be held on October 4 as per the revised schedule. While the Civil Services (Mains) examination which will be held over a period of five days will begin from January 8.

The exam which was originally scheduled to have been held on May 31 was postponed due to the ongoing national lockdown that has been enforced by the government in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases throughout the country.

The Commission also announced that the Personality Test for those who have cleared the Civil Services (Mains) Examination that was conducted in 2019 will be held from July 20. The Commission had already conducted the test for a few candidates and will finish this process beginning from July 20.

The schedule for other exams too has been notified by the Commission on their website (https://www.upsc.gov.in/)

The coveted civil services examinations involve three stages: The Preliminary Examinations consisting of two papers of objective kind of which one is qualifying, the Mains Examination consisting of nine subjective papers of which two are qualifying and finally the personality test. Candidates are eliminated at each stage.
