Wear face mask and maintain ‘2 gaj ki doori’ in public places: Health Ministry

Everyone has to wear face covers/masks and maintain ‘do gaj ki doori’ in public places, the Health Ministry said in its daily media briefing on Tuesday.

Here are the key takeaways from the briefing:

– Spitting in public places is a punishable offence, use of paan, gutka, alcohol and tobacco in these places is prohibited.

– 3,900 new COVID-19 cases and 195 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the highest increase in a single day. Total 46,433 cases so far.

– The gap in reporting was there in some states, especially West Bengal. That’s why the spike in cases reported says government.

– No. of people under active medical supervision – 32,138

– Return of nationals would be arranged via either non-scheduled commercial flights or ships of the Indian Navy.

– Government has prepared Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for return of Indian nationals stranded abroad: HMO

– 1,020 people recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 12,726. India’s recovery rate at 27.41%

– Employees must be registered on the Aarogya Setu app. Registration of the app is the responsibility of the institution.

– Offices have to make adequate masks sanitisers etc available. Companies have to ensure social distancing, enough gap between shifts: PS Srivastava, Joint Secretary, MHA

– An additional guideline has been issued for rational use of PPE for health care workers and others in non-COVID treatment areas in non-COVID hospitals and hospitals with COVID blocks:

– Indian Railways has so far run 62 ‘Shramik special’ trains for migrant labourers, and around 70,000 people are taking advantage of this facility; 13 more trains are expected to run today: Home Ministry

– Offices must be sanitised at regular intervals, hand sanitizers must be provided and social distancing maintained: MHA
