Five Asian cities top the Index of Global Destinations 2018

Tourists have been spending huge amounts of money on travelling to the most exotic destinations around the world every year. Worldwide travel destinations enable travellers to explore new places and cultures.

A survey was recently conducted by a leading credit card company, Mastercard, based on which, the Global Destination Cities Index was released. The top ten destinations have been identified of which five are Asia Pacific cities.

Bangkok tops the index of the world’s most visited cities in 2018. London has secured the second position followed by Paris, Dubai, and Singapore. The top 10 cities that have made it to the index have been mentioned below.

Bangkok

Bangkok has topped the Global Destination Cities Index with a total of 20.05 million global travellers staying for an average of 4 nights per vacation.

London

London has got the second position in the index with an estimate of 19.83 million global travellers. Approximately 5 nights on an average are spent in the city by the tourists.

Paris

With 17.44 million worldwide travellers, Paris has gained the third position and an average length of stay in the city has been recorded at 2.5 nights since a lot of them are a part of combined tours of Europe.

Dubai

Dubai estimated 15.9 million visitors over the year and stood fourth in the index. 3.5 nights are an average duration of stay in Dubai.

Singapore

Singapore at fifth position recorded 13.91 million tourists with an average stay of 4 nights this year.

New York

New York is at the sixth place of the Global Destination Cities Index 2018 with 13.13 million visitors with an average length of stay of minimum 8 nights.

Kuala Lumpur

This city recorded 12.58 million visitors and is ranked seventh in the index with an average length of the stay to be 5 nights.

Tokyo

Tokyo, this year was visited by 11.93 million worldwide travellers bringing it to the eighth position across the world. The average duration of the stay is 6 nights in Tokyo.

Istanbul

Istanbul, ranked at nine, has an average of 10 million visitors from all the world staying for an average of 5 nights.

Seoul

With approximately 9 million tourists this year, Seoul is at the tenth place of the global index with the average nights spent are 4.
