Cong deliberates on way ahead in poll-bound UP

New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Buoyed by the success of itsVaranasi roadshow, Congress today deliberated on the way aheadin poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. The coordination committee of the party met here in whichparty General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, Rajiv Shulka, UPCongress chief Raj Babbar and state leader Pramod Tiwari werepresent. The meeting comes at a time when Congress is makingall-out efforts to become a relevant force in Uttar Pradeshwhere it has been out of power for nearly three decades. Taking the battle to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s turf,Congress President Sonia Gandhi had on August 2 launched herparty’s campaign for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly electionwith a massive roadshow in Varanasi. Thousands of Congress supporters and workers took part inthe roadshow from the Circuit House to Englishiya Line, adistance of about eight kilometres. The march began with Gandhi garlanding the statue of B RAmbedkar at the Circuit House. The marchers criss-crossedlanes and bylanes of the temple town. But she had to cut short the programme due to ill health.PTI SPG NABSC
