With restaurants and bars opening up after months of lockdown, India may be in high spirits already.
But before you head for the nearest watering hole and raise the toast, take a step back to imbibe full well that the pandemic isn’t over just yet. India’s COVID-19 count has crossed 4.47 million mark already and as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data, the number of active cases stands at 9,19,018 at the time of filing this report.
While we do not want to pour cold water on your plans by any chance, it is imperative that we do not let our guard down. India has managed the pandemic well by enforcing systemic measures and opening up of bars and pubs does in no way mean that you and I put what the government has been able to achieve in terms of disease containment in reverse gear.
Practice social distancing, wear your face mask and go in small groups heading to the nearest pub. Simple steps can go a long way in drinking life to the lees as Tennyson had said.
