Meeting without substance is a bad idea

It is good that PM Narendra Modi will not have a meeting with Pakistan Premier Imran Khan despite efforts by Pakistan to have a meeting on the side lines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, which will be PM Modi’s first multilateral diplomatic engagement.

Pakistan’s assurances on action against terror groups like LeT and JeM have been largely cosmetic.

The perpetrators of Mumbai attacks are roaming free and reports suggest that many terror modules are still getting trained in Pakistan, waiting to infiltrate into India.

Any dialogue in the backdrop of this would be futile, and India must continue to mount diplomatic and coercive pressure on Pakistan till it stops the use of terrorism as a state policy against India.
