Don’t shoot the messenger

A recent video message by a BSF jawan had brought out in reality how our soldiers stay in the harsh conditions and poor facilities at the borders.

In the video, Tej Bahadur Yadav clearly mentions that the government does the needful, but the higher officials don’t let the organisation run transparently.

It seems that the internal mechanism has failed to address the grievances, forcing a Jawan to use the social media. The paramilitary is often seen as an opaque space, and one doesn’t know what is going within. Even though the BSF is claiming that soldier has violated conduct rules, but venting his ire on social media can not be held against him.

But those soldiers who protect our nation day and night deserve more. The whistleblowers like Yadav needs to be welcomed and protected to make our armed forces more efficient. There should be an electronic grievance redressal mechanism.

The Home Minister Rajnath Singh had asked for a report, but we should not only leave it to the BSF, given the occasion, other paramilitary forces and armed forces situation also need a reality check.

We want the Prime minister to look on this situation of the plight and save our soldiers, who are guarding our country in extreme conditions.
