Watchout, you may be the next one to get conned on the net

Date:

This is the age of the internet. You know, we browse and learn. Most part of our growing knowledge comes from the fact that we are logged into the internet and and we learn what we see. But even though the internet is a vast sea of information, not all of it is from credible sources. Which is why, despite being the intelligent breed that we are, we fall prey to things that are false. We fall prey to hoaxes.

We are asked to like and share and comment. The emotional strings in our hearts are tugged by the puppy-faced pictures posted that promise us that every share of ours would make the poor souls richer. And we fall for them. Turns out, all of them are just hoaxes.

NewsMobile brings to you things on the internet that fooled us.

Snake eating drunk man

This picture apparently emerged from Kerala, and spread like wildfire, with people sharing it several times. Turns out, it was fake. Obviously!

Death hoaxes

Celeb death hoaxes aren’t new. From Charlie Sheen to Jackie Chan and from Amitabh Bachchan to Yo Yo Honey Singh, all these celebs were killed by hoaxes and unsuspecting fans ended up lending all their information to hackers.

‘Bye’ sexual Bieber

Justin Bieber has always made news for the wrong reasons, which is why for hoax-makers, he is the perfect scapegoat. One website claimed that Bieber had taken to his twitter account to come out of the closet and tell the world he swings both ways, but sadly, that was a hoax.

Three-headed snake and its good luck charm

Oh yes. This smart three-headed snake was supposed to bring good luck to the people who shared its picture. There, that’s how this absolutely imaginary three-headed snake became the talk of the town.

Assam Rape Festival

26rape1

This one was the absolute sickest. An American website published an article that tells everyone how in Assam there is a weeklong festival that allows men to rape. That’s obviously a hoax!

Giant Tortoise

Tortise

This one got most of us. While we clicked on articles that spoke about a giant found in the Amazon, a 529 year old giant 800 pound tortoise, and added pictures of the police carrying it off, we just realised that we were fooled.

So, it’s a lesson learnt for us. Dikhawe pe mat jao, apni akal lagao. Whatsay?
