Vidhu Vinod Chopra meets Jaitley amid FTII row

New Delhi: Leading filmmaker and an alumnus of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Vidhu Vinod Chopra has met Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley.

The Saturday evening’s meeting comes at a time when an agitation is taking place in the Pune based FTII over the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the institute’s Chairman.

While issues related to FTII are understood to have been discussed in the meeting, though officials when contacted did not give details.

“A meeting did take place yesterday evening,” said a source when asked about the meeting.

The source added that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who is an FTII alumni and also a member of FTII council was also present in the meeting.

The government is keen to resolve the FTII row and has been asking students to resume academic activity in the institute.
