Vedanta Resources appoints Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan as the CEO

Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan has been appointed as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Vedanta Resources Plc, replacing interim CEO Kuldip Kaura. Venkatakrishnan is currently the CEO of Johannesburg-based AngloGold Ashanti Ltd, among the larger emerging market gold producers.

He will assume office from August 31. Vedanta had appointed an interim chief executive in August last year, to replace Tom Albanese who returned to the US after his three-year contract expired. Kaura took over from September 1 but did not serve as a director on the board. He will continue till Venkat joins.

Venkat, 53, would be a member of the board of directors effective August 31. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant who holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Madras.
