President Donald Trump in a tweet has claimed to have fired the 27th National Security Advisor of the US, John Bolton, who has been a critic of the Iranian regime and has even advocated military strikes against them.
….I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week.

Bolton has in a separate tweet rebutted Trump’s claim and has stated that he resigned on his own.
I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, “Let’s talk about it tomorrow.”

The reason is speculated to be the secret talks which is said to take place this month between the US, Afghanistan and the Taliban. It is said that Bolton was opposed to this idea. A spokesperson for the White House denied this though. It is generally believed that Trump and Bolton had certain irreconcilable differences.
The immediate effect has been a fall in the prices of crude oil futures.

Donald Trump continues to have a policy of revolving door as he continues to hire and fire officials of his government frequently.
Previously across departments individuals have been sacked according to the whims and fancies of the President. The previous National Security Advisor Micheal Flynn too had been sacked.
