While India united to seek justice for an eight-year-old rape victim with #justiceforAsifa trending on social media all day, there were plenty who took to trolling those seeking justice for the little girl. Since social media sites are not policed therefore, many get away with nasty comments and remarks maligning people’s reputation based on personal opinion or hearsay. But, Kerala’s Vishnu Nandakumar could not get away unscathed. A malicious comment made by him about the innocent victim cost him his job with the Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The private bank in Kerala was forced to sack Nandkumar after he made derogatory comments about the rape and murder victim from Jammu’s Kathua district.
The bank has sacked its Kochi branch Assistant Manager, Vishnu Nandakumar, for his slanderous comments on Facebook.
Vishnu, referring to the 8-year-old girl had said that it was “good that she was killed at this age itself. Else, she would have grown up and returned throwing bombs in India”. This post was widely shared but, it lead to the bank’s Facebook page being flooded with demands for the employee to be sacked.
Twitter was also flooded with demands for dismissing the manager with hashtag #Dismiss_your_manager trending.
Expell Vishnu Nandakumar
Inhuman enough to curse the victim rather than the culprits— chandramohan (@chamoreid) April 13, 2018

Last evening, Kotak Mahindra Bank released a statement on social media informing that it has terminated Vishnu’s services while condemning his comments on the child victim of Kathua. “We have terminated Vishnu Nandakumar from the services of the bank on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 for poor performance. It is extremely disheartening to see such comments being made in the aftermath of such tragedy by anyone including an ex-employee. We strongly condemn this statement.”
According to reports in the media, Vishnu hails from a Kerala family with links with local RSS and BJP leaders. He has deleted his Facebook account since the breaking of the controversy.
