Experts have raised concerns that the strict social distancing norms being implemented by the Karnataka government in the public transport facilities will increase the costs for a normal passenger.

However, the Karnataka government on Tuesday rejected the requests of KSRTC to increase the bus fares due to strict social distancing being followed and the subsequent revenue loss over it.

Experts have suggested that the state government could give way and let the authorities increase the prices soon.

2. Hyderabad resumes normal activities

Telangana government had announced an extension of the lockdown till May 31 much before the centre announced it. However, the Chief Minister announced that the state will adopt the Delhi government’s model of Odd-Even while ensuring the opening up of shops in the state.

The government also permitted resumption of normal activities on Tuesday. However, the response remained tepid.

3. AP CM approves compensation for Styrene hit villages

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday announced Rs 20 crores to every village that has been affected by the leakage of the Styrene gas in Visakhapatnam district.

The gas leak which happened in early May caused the death of more than 11 people and injured many.

4. Strong winds cause destruction in TN

Tamil Nadu is not expected to be hit by Cyclone Amphan. However, three houses in the coastal Villupuram district were completely destroyed due to coastal erosion caused by strong winds.

The state government has said that it is in a state of high alert.

5. Vaikom temple complex damaged in Kerala

The historic Vaikom temple in Kerala has been partially damaged due to strong winds, suspected to be a fallout of Cyclone Amphan.
