Tik Tok sensation Sonali Phogat is BJP’s star candidate for Haryana assembly polls

Date:

BJP has taken out its entire list of candidates that it is fielding for the Haryana state elections, but it is one candidate who is making the waves and leaving everyone curious.

TikTok star Sonali Phogat has been fielded as a BJP candidate for the upcoming Haryana assembly election. She will be contesting against Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi from the Jat-dominated Adampur seat in Haryana.

Phogat, who has so far used the app only to upload entertainment videos, has now forayed into politics. She has over 1 lakh followers on the video-sharing platform and regularly shares videos of her lip-syncing Bollywood songs. She will be head on with Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi, the son of three-time Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.

The Adampur constituency is dominated by the Bishnoi’s. Bhajan Lal has won the Adampur seat eight times since 1969. His wife, Jasma Devi, and son Kuldeep Bishnoi won the seat once each in 1987 and 1998.

Bishnoi, whose hotel in a prime business space of Gurgaon worth Rs 150 crore has been attached by the Income Tax department considering it as a ‘benami’ asset, is the MLA from Adampur.

Elections to the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 21 and results will be declared on October 24.
