Shantipur (WB), Aug 29 (PTI) A section of teachers ofShantipur College in Nadia district today alleged beingthreatened by a group of outsiders regardng the upcominggoverning body elections in the educational institution. College Principal Chandrima Bhattacharya alsoconfirmed the development and said "I have submitted a writtencomplaint against the attackers and lodged complaint with theSuperintendent of Police and District Magistrate. "I failed to contact Education Minister ParthaChatterjee over phone but will lodge written complaint bytonight," the Principal added. The college Governing body election is scheduled totake place on August 31 to elect 4 teachers and 2 non-teachingstaff. Alleging he was held at gun point by 20-22 outsiders,Mathematics Professor Amarjit Kundu said, "I was in staff roomwhen suddenly the 20-strong group barged into the room,gheraoed me and threatened not to get involved in governingbody election process. "One of them even whipped out a revolver and directedit towards my head and as some other teachers rushed into theroom on hearing commotion, they left. They were not ourstudents," he said. Some other teachers alleged of being similarlythreatened. The Principal further alleged the outsiders issuedthreats to stop an emergency meeting at her chamber andinsisted on includiing some of their chosen candidates in theGB.
