Signal error disrupts Metro services on Violet Line

Date:

Several trains plying on Metro’s Violet Line, that connects Faridabad to Central Secretariat, were stuck for around 20 minutes today due to a signal error, inconveniencing thousands of passengers.

DMRC officials said the delay, from around 12 PM, was due to a failure in reversing a train to Central Secretariat station, which was supposed to terminate and further leave towards Badarpur from here.

During peak hours, few trains of Violet Line (Line 6) are made to terminate at Central Secretariat, while the rest terminate at Mandi House and ITO stations before making onward journey towards Badarpur and Faridabad.

“We were facing difficulties in reversing the train and changing its tracks. It was not getting the requisite signal.

This led to a cascading effect, although services were restored very soon,” the official said.

However, passengers travelling during that time complained of being stuck for nearly 20 minutes. The jampacked platform of the Central Secretariat station was also indicative of the delay.

Metro, known for its efficient operations, has had several such glitches, particularly on the Noida-Dwarka Blue Line corridor, in the past.
