Rs 1.1 Crore Fine On Air India Following Employees’ Complaint

Date:

Air India has incurred a fine of over one crore due to safety-related breaches on flights operating specific long-range critical routes, as confirmed by the country’s aviation regulator. The violation pertains to leased aircraft exceeding performance limits specified by the manufacturer.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) initiated an investigation following a voluntary report from an airline employee highlighting these breaches. Subsequent findings indicated non-compliance by Air India, resulting in a show cause notice and the subsequent imposition of a penalty.

After receiving a safety report alleging violations on certain long-range routes, DGCA thoroughly investigated Air India’s operations. In response to the airline’s feedback, DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 crore, citing the leased aircraft’s failure to adhere to regulatory and OEM performance limits.

This marks the second penalty within a week for Air India, following a Rs 30 lakh fine last Thursday for inadequate preparedness leading to fog-related delays.
