Reserve Bank of India is not the richest bank in the world; here’s the fact check

Date:

A picture post is making rounds on social media according to which the Reserve Bank of India has become the world’s richest bank.

It also claimed that RBI has left behind the Central bank of America.

The post read: “रिज़र्व बैंक ऑफ़ इंडिया बना विश्व का सबसे अमीर बैंक. अमेरिका के केंद्रीय बैंक को भी पिछड़ा | मोदी है तो मुमकिन है|”

(Translate: “Reserve Bank of India becomes the world’s richest bank. Leaves US’ central bank behind. It is possible if Modi is there.”)

FACT CHECK

When we fact-checked the above post we found that the claims made are FAKE.

According to a list of the richest bank, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China is the richest bank in the world with total assets worth USD 4,009 billion and Reserve Bank of India is not in top 15 spot.

Hence, it is very much clear that the claim made in the above post is false.
