Puducherry, Aug 18 (PTI):Charging the Congress governmenthere with adopting a lopsided approach in handling law andorder to gain political mileage, BJP today said it would urgethe Centre to order a probe into recent incidents of attacksat a public meeting conducted by Hindu Munnani and a mosque. BJP Puducherry President V Saminathan told reporters heretoday that the government was acting in a lopsided manner forgarnering votes by ‘pleasing’ minorities. "Narayanasamy, a non member of the Assembly, is going tocontest a by-election soon and hence is trying to appeaseminorities by making statements against BJP and Hindu Munnaniby stating that Goondas Act will be invoked to handle theincident of attack on the mosque," he claimed. He said the Chief Minister, instead of looking into theincident impartially and arresting those responsible for theattack, had issued statements that Hindu Munnani had attacked alocal mosque in the wake of the disturbance at the publicmeeting. Saminathan wondered how the CM could make suchstatements without fully ascertaining the facts. He said a BJP delegation would meet Union MinisterRajnath Singh and BJP National president Amit Shah on August23 at Delhi and request them to order a detailed enquiry intothe disturbance at the public meeting and the ‘failure’ ofpolice to nab those responsible. Hindu Munnani said that on August 14, a meeting was inprogress when an unidentified person allegedly hurled a bottlefrom a corner targetting the stage, injuring three persons. However, after the meeting, some persons allegedlydamaged glass panes on the ground and first floors of a nearbymosque, prompting Narayanasamy to order a probe into theincident. Complaints and counter-complaints had been filed bythe Munnani and the mosque authorities.PTI COR ROH APRAPR
