Prediction of Heart Attack May Be Possible With New Eye Test

Date:

Retinal scans could soon be used to estimate heart attack. Researchers discovered that the sequence of blood vessels in the retina could help to detect the risk of having heart problems.

The researchers calculated parameters using data from the UK Biobank, which includes medical and lifestyle records for 500,000 people.

In a framework, they merged the estimate with other variables such as age, gender, blood pressure, body composition, and smoking prevalence. After collecting retinal images, the research group looked at people in the data set who may have had a heart attack.

The greater curvature of the vascular arteries was found to correlate with higher blood rate, average cardiac tension during such a heartbeat, and systolic blood pressure, which is the pressure that occurs when the heart contracts. This was not the only realisation.

The researchers also discovered a link between increased artery wall strength, higher mean arterial pressure, and retinal blood vessel reduction.

According to the scientists, their study discovered a genetic link between multifractal and heart attack. A heart attack occurs at an average age of 60.

The research team discovered that their concept performed best over 5 years before a heart attack happened. The scientists hope that in the future, a simple retinal test will provide enough evidence to evaluate people at high risk.
