Belpahari:Â Abhishek Banerjee was at it again. Hot on heels of threatening to smash his opponents, he has now put his aunt Mamata Banerjee to shame. How?
Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee sparked a controversy by saying that the West Bengal Chief Minister was responsible for killing Naxal leader Kishanji.
While speaking at a public meeting in Belpahari in West Midnapore which is in the heart of the Junglemahal region that was once Naxal-dominated, he said, “One of the biggest success of Mamata government is that we have killed Kishenji. That is because if any one lifts arms for violence he shall be treated this way. One should only lift arms for the protection of one’s own country.”
This statement is in complete contrast to what aunt Banerjee had always maintained — that Kishenji was killed in an encounter. Her government has faced several accusations in the past of staging the encounter.
Kishenji was allegedly shot dead after a gunfight on November 24, 2011, soon after Mamata took charge as the Chief Minister.
