Kevadia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is in Gujarat celebrating his 69th birthday addressing a rally in Kevadia in Narmada said that the state continues to be an inspiration for the country and emphasised on preserving nature.
“In our culture, it is believed that development can be done while protecting the environment. Nature is dear to us, it is our jewel. Gujarat shows that progress and sustainability can be achieved at the same time,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister started his day by visiting the Sardar Sarovar Dam and the Statue of Unity, dedicated to Vallabhbhai Patel.
“On one side is the Sardar Sarovar Dam, there are electricity-generating equipments, on the other side there are very beautiful arrangements related to eco-tourism like Ekta Nursery, Butter-fly Garden. Amidst all this, a grand statue of Sardar Patel is seen as blessing us,” PM Modi said.

Talking about Sardar Patel’s vision, PM Modo said: “The country is witnessing Sardar Patel’s dream of one India turning into a reality. Today the country is trying to complete the tasks which were left incomplete during independence.”
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have faced discrimination for 70 years. The entire nation suffers in its unfulfilled hopes and aspirations, in the form of ill effects, violence and isolation,” PM Modi added
“I am confident that with the active support of millions of colleagues from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Kargil, we will be able to shed a new stream of development and trust,” he said.
Earlier PM Modi had tweeted a video of the 182-metre steel and bronze statue as his chopper flew around it on his way from Ahmedabad to Kevadiya.
