The Maharashtra government finally approved a proposal to allow shops and restaurants to be open 24×7.
From 27 January, several malls and restaurants will be allowed to function around the clock. The rule, however, comes with some restrictions. It only applies to establishments in “gated communities” like malls and mill compounds and non-residential localities.

The rule also states that restaurants and pubs can serve alcohol only till 1:30 am.
The Mumbai around the clock plan has been pushed by Maharashtra’s tourism minister Aditya Thackeray, who was keen on pushing this for a long time.
