MPCA decides to postpone its elections

Indore, Aug 29 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh CricketAssociation (MPCA), in its annual general meeting (AGM) heldhere today, decided to postpone its proposed elections in viewof the Supreme Court-appointed Justice R M Lodha panel’srecommendations and till the clouds over poll procedure getcleared. It also decided that as per the MPCA constitution, theexisting body will continue to remain in force. The term ofthe present body will end on August 31. "In the AGM, we decided that till we get clearinstructions from the Lodha panel and BCCI and things don’tget clear on the issue of elections, our existing body willcontinue to work till the new one is constituted," MPCAchairman Jyotiraditya Scindia told reporters. As per the MPCA constitution, the existing body willremain in vogue till the new office-bearers are elected. "We will follow whatever directives we receive fromLodha panel. Our AGM took place as per the constitution, inwhich accounts were verified and it has decided to form anEthics and Code of Conduct Committee," he said. Scindia also informed that as per the Lodha panel’srecommendation and BCCI’s directives MPCA in its AGM has givenits green signal for the appointment of an Ombudsman and itwill appoint one soon. Answering a question on improving performance inOlympics, Scindia said a new strategy should be framed bysimplifying bureaucratic complexities. "Besides, talent search should be initiated up torural areas, quality of coaching and infrastructure should beimproved and enhancement in sports budget among others isneeded to be done," he said. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on theissue, he said that before becoming the PM, in his speech Modihad said that if NDA comes to power at the Centre, then thecountry will get more number of medals. "This speech should be replayed before the public andthe Prime Minister should reply to the people that the NDAgovernment, led by him, has initiated what kind of steps inthe last two years for improving India’s performance inOlympics," he said.
