A 13 year old girl was abducted and gangraped twice in 5 days in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district. Seven people have been arrested in the case. This comes a week after a 45 year old woman was gangraped by four men who inserted an iron rod into her private parts in Sidhi district. Four gruesome incidents have been reported in the last six days raising questions about women’s safety in the state.
The minor girl was abducted on January 4th by a man who was known to her and then later raped by six of his friends for two days. She was allowed to go and told not to file a Police complaint about else she would be killed. The girl was allowed to go on January 5th.

She was again kidnapped on January 11th by one of the seven men and two of his friends. The minor was let go, but again gang raped by two truck drivers. She managed to escape thereafter and reach her home on Friday morning. The Police set up multiple teams to conduct searches.
The accused have been booked under section 376 for rape, section 324 for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, section 452 for house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and section 34 common intention.
