Migraine is more common in women than men

Date:

As per studies conducted recently, migraine is more commonly found in women because of the estrogen and sex hormones present in them.

A research was conducted by the Society for Women’s Health Research to reduce the burden of a migraine on health and economic security of women. According to the research, the disease is different in men and women.

It is found that a migraine is three times more common in women than men and the majority of disease cases are found in women between the age group of 30 to 39 years. This is the primary age when females are busy balancing their lives between family, work, and social commitments.

The duration of a migraine in ladies is more likely to be longer and more severe. The symptoms of a migraine attack in them are more prolonged. Estrogen or other sex hormones have a huge part to play in this disease.

Besides the time frame and commonality, the treatment for men and women also differs as women experience worse symptoms and men are more hesitant to seek help for the problem.
