Mumbai: In a meeting between Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and MNS Chief Raj Thackeray, the former agreed to the demands of MNS on Thursday. Mr Chavan assured Thackeray that a detailed policy on toll collection will be rolled out before the elections.
The Chief Minister has admitted to some faults in the granting contracts to toll booth operators. These would be ironed out in the new policy, he said.
On 22 toll plazas where the MNS has demanded the toll collection be stopped immediately, the PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said, his department will require an additional allocation of Rs 285 cr every year to maintain these roads without toll collection. On infrastructure at toll plazas, the government has assured of 200 new ambulances which will be made available to operate near these toll plazas.
