Kanpur boy’s death: DM sends inquiry report to PMO and CM

Kanpur (UP), Sep 1 (PTI) District authorities todaysent an inquiry report to PMO and Chief Minister office inconnection with the death of a 12-year-old boy due to allegednegligence of doctors in Kanpur Medical College. "Strict actions will be taken against guilty doctors andhospital staff on the basis of the report submitted by atwo-member committee, including Additional City Magistrate andAdditional Chief Medical Officer," District Magistrate KaushalRaj told PTI. He said copies of the report have been sent to the PMO inDelhi and Chief Minister’s office in Lucknow. Sunil Kumar brought his son Anshu, who was suffering fromfever, to the emergency ward of Hallet hospital of JSVMMedical College in Kanpur on August 28 and alleged thatdoctors asked him to go from one department to another whichhe did while carrying his son on his shoulders and the boydied later, a charge which the hospital authoritieshave refuted. Following the death of the boy, Chief Minister AkhileshYadav has suspended the Chief Medical Superintendent of theMedical College. Kaushal said officials of the district administration areinspecting all government hospitals in the city and apprisinghim of the situation on a daily basis. "I personally have visited several hospitals tounderstand the everyday problems faced by the patientsvisiting there," the DM said. He yesterday asked all government hospitals to improvetheir facilities within three days, failing which they couldface action. He admitted that government hospitals in the districtlack in facilities to match the rush of patients with dengueand viral and said the administration is making efforts toprovide immediate help.
